Today's doctor's appointment wasn't exactly what I expected, but it was very interesting! Typically when I go in, I'm there for 15-20 minutes and it's over. Today I went in and they took the heartbeat, which was at 150, and measured my tummy, which is at 40 cm and then ended up staying for a little over an hour. The nurse kept telling me not to worry because she could feel Belle up high around my ribs and that's probably why I'm measuring big, but they wanted to do an ultrasound to make sure that I'm not retaining excess fluid or anything. So I get into the ultrasound, and Belle's head is down, where it should be, and her butt is up by my ribs. The ultrasound tech said that she's measuring at 37 weeks (which I'm supposedly 35 weeks) and the machine is showing her at a little over 7 lbs. The tech said that her machine is usually off about half a pound so Belle is about 6.5 pounds at this point. I told the doctor that I'm not too keen on pushing out a 10 pound baby in 3-5 weeks. We briefly discussed letting labor progress naturally and then if progress isn't made, we'll do a C-Section or if she's too big, I can choose to have a C-Section. I don't know how I feel about either. A C-Section sounds appealing if she's too big, however, I know the recovery can take a lot longer, but the natural way can also take a long time if she's big as well. Part of me wants to have her before she grows that much, but I also want her to be fully developed. We'll see how everything progresses. The doctor said that she wants get another ultrasound a little later to see how big she gets.
As for me, I'm still going through my days swollen. My face is swollen, my hands are so swollen I can't get my real or fake wedding band on, and my feet are so swollen I can't even put flip flops on. I wear tennis shoes but I can't tie them. It's pretty miserable, but hopefully not much longer! I can't wait to see that sweet face! I am nervous about the due date being moved. We aren't exactly prepared because we thought that we would have longer. We have the big stuff - the crib, pack 'n play, stroller and one car seat, but we don't have any little stuff. We have a bag of newborn diapers, a box of size 2 diapers, a few sample packs of wipes and formula, and nb/0-3 clothes. That's it though! I feel like we're so behind, but the baby shower is on Sunday. I can't wait to see everyone, and I'm so excited that my mother-in-law and Jon's aunt are coming to town and will be there!
Well, my next appointment is next Wednesday so until then, so long for now!
