Tuesday was a rough day for me. Yes, they poked me four times - twice on one arm and twice on the other. The results - everything came back normal! It's great news! I'm glad because I read that kids born to mothers with gestational diabetes are more likely to the big when they're born (so not something I want to hear!) and are more likely to be overweight. We were both chubby kids growing up so our little Belle doesn't need any other factors working against her. Jon and I decided that we really want to make health and nutrition a big part of her life due to our experiences with kids and being chubby. Kids are mean, and neither of us want her to be teased like we were growing up. I don't think that we have this unrealistic expectation that she will be skinny and tall. Genetics would never allow it, but we can do everything we can to help her understand the difference in chubby due to DNA and chubby due to overeating and lack of physical activity. We are already working on ourselves.
Tomorrow is the 30 week mark for Belle and me. Only ten weeks to go, can you believe it?!? It's coming up quick but feels like it's going so slow. Some days I feel like it will never get here and other days I feel like it's around the corner. I just can't wait to see that face and hold her in my arms and know that she's a little bit of me and a little bit of Jon and will be a lot of herself. We're both very anxious to meet her, and I think we're ready. We have seen a lot of our friends have kids, we have a niece and nephews, and we've been us for 'officially' two years. We're really ready to have a family of our own. We have been ready for it for a while, but the circumstances were not ideal. We didn't want to start a family in Florida, and we knew that from the beginning. Then when we moved to Tennessee, Jon didn't have a job for a while, and we were living in mom and dad's basement. Even when we decided to buy the house, Jon didn't have a job, and when he got one, it was not the job for him and I was not in a job that I particularly enjoyed or wanted to stay in. I am a firm believer that God knows what He is doing, and He let it happen when the time was right. We found out that I was pregnant about three months after we moved into the house and we both got great, steady jobs. We've truly been blessed in our life together, and I couldn't be more thankful that my life took the path that it did. I have a wonderful, loving husband and we're expecting a baby girl who, I can only imagine, will bring even more joy into our life together.
