The home stretch

Ok, my last post was posted on Monday, but it was written last Thurs/Friday.  Please forgive the delay.  We are now officially in our 28th week, and we are now in the third trimester. (HOORAY) I have my 28 week check-up on Monday along with the blood sugar test.  I read that I will start going to the doctor every two weeks from now until I get closer to my due date at which time I will begin going every week.  I also read that she's the size of a Chinese cabbage at two and a quarter pounds and 14.8 inches.

That means our little Belle will be here soon, and I can't wait!  Mom and I went shopping this past Saturday, and we got some really cute outfits for her!  It's so exciting!  I hope everyone else is getting just as excited as we are.  I keep having dreams of what she'll look like and act like.  It's really funny because one night I'll have a dream that she's a girly girl who wants to have her make-up done and nails painted all the time and the next night I'll have a dream that she's a tom boy.  In reality, I hope that she's a little of both like I was with a lot of her daddy's characteristics like his sense of humor, patience, and intelligence (don't tell him I said the last one ::wink::wink::).

It's all becoming so real, especially since we have the nursery started and somewhat finished.  We got the walls painted, now we just have to get the furniture in there and her name up on the wall.  There's only one problem - we can't get the crib in the room!  Being the brilliant people that we are, thinking that there's more room to put it together in the living room, put it together and stored it in the living room.  Neither of us ever thought to measure the door to make sure the crib will fit through it.  It doesn't.  In fact, it's not even close!  There's no way for us to maneuver it in the door so Jon will spend tomorrow taking it apart and putting it back together in the bedroom.  Fun stuff!  Below are some pictures of the nursery painted.  They were taken with my phone so I will take better ones with a real camera and post them later so that you can see the true colors.  The stripes are darker pink, light pink, and brown although the light pink looks white in the pictures.  For future pictures, I will take them with one of our cameras and post them so that they're more realistic for you.

We put the butterflies and flowers on the stripes, but I haven't decided if I like them there or not.  Any opinions?  Oh, and the base color actually turned out perfect!  I thought that it was too dark at first, but after the second coat it was a pleasant surprise that it lighten up a lot.  Maybe the gray was coming through too much making it a bit dark.  My original plan is to have the butterflies and flowers on the wall with the stripes, and her name on the wall to the left, but I'm thinking of reversing that and putting her name on the striped wall and the butterflies and flowers on the other wall.  I just feel like the stripes are so clean, and I like them that way, however, I welcome any suggestions!

  1. I think it's adorable!!!! I love the colors & the stripes. You could always put the butterflies randomly scattered on the same wall (if you want it all on one wall...) and then put her name in the brown stripe. I think it's cute as it is, though. :)
